some packages arrived at my doorstep today. obviously, they were filled with fabulous glamorous things, like crystals (duh) and shoulder pads.

so first off, i know i havent posted in over a month. i still owe you all Paris pictures and i’m just going to be upfront and honest and say i’m lazy and didnt want to sift through all my photos. anywho, so i’m back now with a rather fabulous come-back post. last night i went to see Kylie Minogue perform here in Los Angeles. i had second row center seats, and i mean dead center. she. is. amazing. personally, i love her more than Gaga or Britney or any one else. her X album made me go out and buy Bose speakers just so i could listen to it with legit speakers. she’s sweet and bubbly, and doesn’t take herself too seriously like Gaga or go through mental breakdowns like Britney. and damn, Kylie knows how to put on a show, complete with practically naked men.

okay so, at this point in the show she asked for a request song. and i was very insistant that she sing The Locomotion, so me and a guy next to me began miming The Locomotion. (which was a pretty smart move if i do say so myself, cause with 1230981203 screaming she can’t hear anything.) anywho, she totally saw us and was like “oh, i see there’s something going on down here in the front. oh i see, through the power of mime…..chuga chuga….” and started to sing The Locomotion. lolol it totally made my night that my song was picked. the photo is blurry as hale but come on, she’s doing The Locomotion!

so i’m taking a break while sorting through my Paris photos to bring up the topic of these wedges. my guy at McQueen called me and asked if i wanted these, but he and i both expressed hesitation due to the feminine nature of the straps. they’re a little too delicate for my liking. however, i must say i’m in love with the fact that he heels are iris flowers. anyone will tell you have an obsession with all things flora. crystals + flora are another world all together (so don’t get me started on the Lanvin Fall 2011 accessories). but still, i can’t help but be ambivalent about this. at $3500, they’re not cheap. but at the same time, i have a feeling they’ll go to sale. I believe that many retailers bought this shoe, resulting in the same issue that happened with last season’s Grinling Gibbons boot. so many retailers ordered it, and the price was so high no one bought it so they all went to sale. i feel as if this shoe is headed to the same fate. granted on sale it will still probably be $1500 after tax, but that price is much more palatable. this shoe, is very pretty, no doubt. but is nothing compared to the metal backed wedges of Fall 2011. these wedges come in gold and black, though i prefer the gold since the petal detailing gets lost in the black version.

my sister and i decided to take the train out to Versailles, and make a day trip of it. but photos of Versailles are for another post. this post is for outfits. I never make “what i wore” posts, simply because i have no one to take photos of me, and im incredibly particular about how my photos are taken, so i’d rather be behind the camera than in front of it. well, i figured that with a setting like Versailles, how could i not at least try and document our outfits, right? though Versaille is so dusty it left our both our clothes and ourselves feeling dirty. i don’t know how Marie Antoinette and her peers did it, with all their luxe dresses and kicking up a sandstorm.

Theory dress, some black brocade jacket she found at a sample sale, Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte pumps, Mykita sunglasses, our dad’s old Rolex watch, Alexander McQueen python wrap bracelets, crystal bangles, a hairband, and Michael Kors clutch. oh and bag from Laudrée with some macarons.

oh and i guess you can see what i wore too. sorry for outfit repeating.

J. Crew plaid shirt, Levi’s 511 jeans, my mom’s vintage Ralph Lauren blazer, Hermès Kelly Jumper boots, Hermès Birkin, and Lanvin Spring 2009 crystal sunglasses – Look 46.

the little house i’m in front of is one of the many houses located on the Petit Trianon, which is most famously known as Marie Antoinette’s personal playground. the rest of the photos from Versailles, including the chateau and other buildings on the Petit Trianon are coming up! so many pictures to sift through, so little time.

i just got back from spending spring break in Paris with my sister. while the weather was a little muggy, the city is so beautiful, the food is fantastic, and despite with people say, everyone was really nice. granted, i really think that if the French are rude, they’re only rude to english speaking caucasians. on the other hand, my sister and i speak french, and we have an attitude similar to New Yorkers, so maybe that’s why the French didn’t bother us as much? anywho, this is the first post of many chronicling my trip to Paris.

first and foremost, my cute luxe Parisian apt where i lived for the past week.

when they say that Paris is for lovers, they really mean it. everything in Paris just screams love, and there are couples everywhere – old & young. everyone seemed so in love, and were so affectionate. not in the gross PDA way like many Americans are, but rather just sitting next to each other sharing a sandwich or talking. you can see the connection in their movements. subtle and sincere. even the architecture and the statues are so elegant.

some of you may recognize this as the Grand Palais, where Chanel holds their shows every year.

and of course….

i haven’t updated in like a month. sorry about that! my life was pretty uneventful. but next week im going to Paris! so there will be many posts/pictures for that. anyways, a couple weekends ago i went to Vegas with some friends to celebrate Vance’s birthday. well, overall the trip was below par for me. between cover charges and having both my Vuitton sunglasses and Balmain pants damaged, the amount i spent was definitely not equivalent to the fun i had. still, it was nice to spend a weekend out with friends. speaking of, i randomly ran into a few of my best friends from high school which was a nice surprise. i only have pictures from the first night, cause stupid me forgot to take the battery out of the charger for night 2. which sucked cause i wore my McQueen leggings that night, and Tryst at the Wynn was gorgeous with it’s waterfall and everything. damnit! oh well, next time!

so yes, i really did just quote Kylie Minogue’s 80′s hit. but seriously, i can’t help but count my lucky stars for this. let me start off, that i’ve wanted a birkin ever since i was 16. but now, really. that’s just ridiculous. then when i was 18, i decided that i was going to get one. so for 3 years i saved up money from various jobs, Chinese New Year, Christmas, birthdays, etc in order to get one. of course, most of you know that having the money is just one thing, but actually getting your hands on the bag itself is another. two years ago, i was offered the chance to special order a birkin. me. special order. it’s hard enough to get your hands on the bag itself, regardless of color, but you have to be invited to special order one. i died. i seriously only ever dreamed of being able to have a custom birkin. anywho, fast forward two years later when i got a call two weeks ago. it finally arrived! not going to lie, i’m kinda sad i wasn’t able to fly out to New York and pick it up, and more so to hang out with Julia for a bit. (the earliest i could’ve made it out there was in about 2.5 months, and i’ll probably be seeing Julia during Coachella anyways.) but they were kind enough to ship it overnight. so in the words of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde: The Musical, “OMIGOD OMIGOD YOU GUYZZZ, THIS ONE’S PERFECT! AND IT’S JUST MY SIZEEE! SEE DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE, YOU NEVER HAVE TO COMPROMISE!”

the horseshoe means it’s a custom order! <3

i like how you can see the reflections/sparkles off my crystalized camera.

Prada Fur Spring 2011

by V. on February 6, 2011 · 6 comments

in $$$$,I'd Kill For...,Prada

so i might be late on this trend, but i’ve been seeing the Prada fox fur stoles from the Spring 2011 collection everywhere. the more i see it, the more i want it. it’s ridiculous, it’s luxurious, it’s so me. i’ve pretty much crossed off lots of things from my Spring 2011 wishlist just for this stole. and the thing is, i only want the pink one. (though i’d wear any of them but the orange cause orange is a fugly color) but i called up my Prada store to find out these are $6,000. + the L.A. sales tax, it makes it almost $7K, and i can’t justify it. (and considering i just made a massive purchase, photos to come i swear, i’m in no position to be spending $7K on anything other than rent, food, and textbooks) i can swallow $3K for it, but not any more. pray these go on sale for me.
